Thank you for checking out Pong version 3.

The object of pong is to score game point before the computer does.

You can play a short or a long game. So game point will be either
11 or 21.

When it is your serve you can use the arrow keys to move your
paddle left or right before you press the up arrow key to serve the
ball. If the computer returns the volley you will then want to
again use the arrow keys to move your paddle to in front of the
ball to hit and thus return the volley. The p key will pause the game. And then the p key again will resume the game.

After each volley when the game says press any key you can press s
to save and exit the game, press e just to exit the game without
saving it, press the f1 key to have the score repeated or press any
other key to continue on with the game.

If you have a joystick, moving the stick left and right will be the same as the left and right arrow keys. the trigger will be the same as enter or the any key. Button number 1 will be the pause button. This is all configurable from within the first menu.

The game will play better if you disengage your screen reader so
that you can hold down the arrow keys to move your paddle.

Here is a description of the game play.

When the game starts it is your serve, so you can use the left and
right arrow keys to move your paddle so as to serve from where ever
you like to. Now you press the up arrow key to serve the ball.
You hear your paddle hit the ball and the ball starts moving away
from you getting quieter. It may also move to the left or right.
You also at this point hear the computer moving it's paddle trying
to move it's paddle to in front of the ball so as to return the
volley. If at this point you hear the computer paddle hit the ball
it will start moving back towards you getting louder. At this
point you want to use the arrow keys to move your paddle left or
right to get it in front of where the ball is coming at you. If
you do this successfully your paddle will hit the ball and send it
back towards the computer. This continues until one of you miss
the ball.

If the computer misses the ball you score a point and hear a
dropping off sound and Homer Simpson saying Wooooo! Hooooo! If you
miss the ball the computer scores a point and you hear a dropping
off sound and Homer saying Doh!

The sound of the Star Trek door is the paddles. The computers is
quieter than yours. The sort of bouncing ball sound is the sound
of the pong ball. You will also sometimes hear a ricochet bouncing
sound which is the sound of the ball bouncing off of either the
left side or right side wall.
