Not cause there's a hispanic involved in this book, but this is
yet another heavily used percussion phrase still in use today
since it's introduction to popular music over 40 years ago! The
quarter note bass drum phrase helps it to westernize a bit more
while still retaining much of it's original feel, thanks to
the dominant nature of the congas and cow bell phrases. The broken
hi hat sixteenths also help to tribe it up a bit. For a more
detailed understanding of what's happening in the congas
department, see the pattern grid.
