The file Msasync1.exe is a set-up program for Microsoft's ActiveSync Version 3.1.
Refer to Chapter 13 of the BrailleNote Manual for information on how to use your BrailleNote in
conjunction with ActiveSync. Use the following instructions to install ActiveSync on your PC
and to initiate a link between your PC and your BrailleNote.

1.	Make a Folder on your PC's "C" drive called "ActiveSync31".
2.	Copy the file "Msasync1.exe" from the CD to this folder.
3.	Execute the file, either from the run option on the Start Menu, or by selecting the file
"Msasync1.exe" in Windows explorer and pressing Enter. The file will unpack all
	the ActiveSync set-up files.
4.	Execute Setup.exe.
5.	The ActiveSync Set-up Wizard will run, and will guide you through installing
	ActiveSync onto your PC.
6.	Press Enter to acknowledge the Set-up Wizard's opening screen.
7.	Press Enter to choose the default installation folder, which is
	C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync.
8.	ActiveSync will be installed on your computer and the "Get Connected" screen will appear.
Don't press Enter yet, as you first need to connect your PC to your BrailleNote.
9.	Connect your BrailleNote to the serial port of your PC using the "Null Modem"
cable supplied with the BrailleNote. It is important to use this cable, as there are
several variations of "Null Modem" cables, and using the incorrect cable will
prevent you from establishing the initial connection between your PC and
the BrailleNote. Use your PC's COM1 serial port if this is available. If COM1 is
already being used (e.g. by a serial mouse), then use COM2.
10.	Turn on the BrailleNote and go to the Utilities Menu. The first option in the Utilities
Menu is "Connect to ActiveSync". Don't select this yet.
11.	Press Enter on your computer to initiate its part of the "Get Connected" sequence.
12.	Immediately press "c" on your BrailleNote to initiate the BrailleNote's part of the
"Get Connected" sequence. After pressing "c", the BrailleNote will display "Utilities
Menu". This is normal since ActiveSync runs in the background, allowing you to operate
the BrailleNote at the same time as using ActiveSync.
13.	There will be a delay of between 5 and 30 seconds then, if the connection is successful,
you will hear an rapid three-part sound from the BrailleNote and the computer will
display a "Setup Partnership" screen. If the connection is not successful, you will
hear a harsher two-part sound from the BrailleNote and the computer will display
"Your device was not detected" in the "Get connected" screen.
14.	If the connection is not successful, try again. Press Enter on your computer then
immediately press "c" on your BrailleNote. If you again hear the harsh two-part sound
indicating that the connection has failed, immediately press "c" on the BrailleNote
	again.
15.	Establishing the "first time" connection between your computer and the BrailleNote
can be difficult. Be patient, and be prepared to repeat the procedure several times.
Once the "first" connection has been established, subsequent reconnections will be
	much easier.
16.	When a connection has been established, a "Setup Partnership" screen will appear.
Press the down arrow to choose "No Partnership", and then press Enter.
17.	Disconnecting is done by simply removing the null modem cable from the BrailleNote. Both
the PC and the BrailleNote emit a short "chirp" when this is done.
18.	To quickly reconnect, again plug in the null modem cable, and select "Connect to
ActiveSync" option in the BrailleNote Utilities Menu. This time, there is no need to do
anything at the PC end of the connection. Following the connection negotiation phase,
you will once again be presented with the "New Partnership" dialogue on the PC. Press
the down arrow to choose "No Partnership", and then press Enter.
19.	Refer to Chapter 13 of the BrailleNote Manual for information on how to use your
	BrailleNote in conjunction with ActiveSync.
