This revolutionary personal     productivity system, from Pulse Data International, is designed     specifically for people who are blind or visually impaired.      When you install KeySoft on your computer, together with a speech     synthesizer, you will have a wordprocessor, spelling checker,     calculator, diary, address list manager, and communications    	 terminal at your fingertips.  
    Equipment Checklist.     
 Your KeySoft system should come with the following items:      1. A KeySoft user's manual in ink print form (this    document).   2. A set of audio tapes containing this user's manual.   3. A command summary in Braille.   4. A set of two KeySoft disks, the first containing all    master programs, demonstration files, printer driver files,    and the second containing the KeySoft user's manual.      How This User Manual Is Organized.      There are 13 Chapters and 11 Appendices, as follows:      Chapter 1, "Getting Started", describes how to install KeySoft on     your computer.      Chapter 2, "Operating Basics", introduces some important concepts     of KeySoft.      ! Chapter 3, "The Wordprocessor", discusses KeyWord.  "   # Chapter 4, "The File Commands Menu", explains KeySoft's directory    $ structure and the commands for manipulating files.  %   & Chapter 5, "Printing a Document", covers printing.  '   ( Chapter 6, "Advanced Word-processing Functions", describes the    ) advanced editing functions.  *   + Chapter 7, "The Scientific Calculator", describes the KeyPlus    , calculator.  -   .    Chapter 8, "The Diary", discusses KeyPlan, the page-per-day    diary.    Chapter 9, "The Address List", describes the address list manager    KeyList.    Chapter 10, "Communications", explains the operation of KeyTerm,    the communications package.   	 Chapter 11, "The Utilities Menu", covers the pronunciation   
 dictionary, file transfers to other computers, date and time    setting, and formatting and renaming disks.   
 Chapter 12, "Using MS-DOS," introduces the DOS option.    Chapter 13, "The Commands Summary," lists all the KeySoft    commands.    The 11 appendices cover punctuation voicing, communication    parameters, printers, searching for format markers, error    messages, on-screen messages, pronunciation dictionary hints, a    tutorial on KeySoft's directory structure and accessing the    User's Manual, the KeyTerm modem database, KeyTerm script file    commands, and CompuServe settings.    Suggested Learning Plan.    Step 1:  Listen to the User's Manual Tapes and work through the    procedures to the end of Chapter 4.  By this point you will be    able to load individual chapters from the User's Manual disk and    read them with KeySoft.     Step 2: Familiarize yourself with the layout of the disk version   ! of the User's Manual by loading the Table of Contents and   " reviewing it.  Then load and read chapters as you need to extend   # your use of the system.  For a detailed subject search, load the   $ Index. %  & Step 3:  Create some documents, make some diary appointments, and   ' enter some addresses of your own.  Practice using KeySoft until   ( you are confident with the basic operating procedures.   ) Familiarize yourself with the advanced word-processing functions   * covered in Chapter 6. +  , Step 4: If you would like KeySoft to dial phone numbers, or   - connect to information services, read Chapter 10 on   . Communications. /  0    Conventions.    Some operations require you to use two or more keys    simultaneously.  In this manual, when a combination of keys is to    be pressed, there will be a statement such as:      Press READ with A.    This means:  press and hold down the READ key, press the A key   	 briefly, then release both keys.  It is important that you fully   
 depress the first key, in this case the READ key, before before    you press the second key, which in this is case the A key.   
