EVAS - Our Company Profile

Founded in 1979 by Gerald and Catherine Swerdlick, Electronic Visual Aid
Specialists is a privately-held corporation, located in Westerly, Rhode Island,
that provides computer access to people with disabilities. EVAS pioneered
combining adaptive aid, application software and computer into an integrated
"turn-key" system. We design and manufacture CompuSight Computers not only to
address the need for a powerful computer, but also to provide a compatible
platform for today's high tech adaptive aids. EVAS has developed speech
synthesizers, large print software and other adaptive aids and markets these
in the U.S. and Canada under the CompuSight label.

As one of its primary objectives, EVAS searches out, evaluates and acquires
new and innovative adaptive products. We have built relationships with dozens
of industry leaders worldwide and proudly represent the adaptive products
manufactured by over fifty independent companies. This approach places EVAS in
a strong position to meet the growing needs of our clients in designing,
integrating and supporting adapted computer systems.

Our goal is to provide the tools required to gain independence, pursue an
education or create employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
With fifteen years of experience as both a user and a provider of adaptive
technology, our C.E.O., Jerry Swerdlick, has successfully guided our company
toward these goals. EVAS's senior staff, with over fifty years of experience
in microcomputers, programming, adaptive aids and their interrelationships,
has been drawn from both the academic and corporate worlds. Our company and
its qualified staff stand ready to assist you in all aspects of the design
and support of your turn-key system.

Since EVAS designs and manufacturers its own computers, changes that often
occur in off-the-shelf brands which could adversely affect system
compatibility are avoided. Our computers are custom manufactured using
high-quality American-made components and are UL-rated and FCC-approved. All
EVAS computers are fully functioning "turn-key" systems that run right out of
the box with all components integrated and configured. All CompuSight
computers are EPA Energy Star compliant with many power-saving features. The
CompuSight Power Menu completely manages the system, providing easy access to
application software, adaptive aids and documentation. When putting together
your CompuSight system, adaptive aids, software and peripherals may be
obtained from EVAS or supplied by you; either way, no integration fee is
charged.

EVAS has a long history of serving the needs of individuals, businesses and
state and federal agencies. Our staff of experienced consultants can design
a total solution, creating fully integrated adapted computer systems that
meet the needs of people with disabilities.

EVAS offers systems that fulfill the requirements of the Americans with
Disabilities Act and has been designated as an ADA Contractor by the GSA.
