GENERAL FEATURES AND RECOMMENDATIONS ABOUT THE USE OF PROFILES

    D-A. General features.

All profiles available in VOXPARLE package have been
created to suit applications installed with their default
colours. Therefore if you own a monochrome display adapter or
if you use a profile with an application whose colours have
been modified the profile will not work. You may then either
restore the default colours or change the colours defined in
the profile. In case of problems please contact your retailer
for more information.

As they develop, the applications are designed to look
more and more convivial, less and less austere. So they use
colours more and more extensively.
If you wish to automatically read menus or other
information displayed on the screen as best as possible, this
great number of colours can cause conflicts or redundancies.
For this reason some menu options or other information may be
read twice or as they have not been selected.
Redundancies are not really a problem: they actually
confirm your choice. On the other hand colour conflicts are
more difficult to solve.
If you are not certain of your choice we recommend that
you press the UAR and DAR keys once in any order to make sure
of the selected option. Even if redundancies persist non-
selected options should not be read.

D-2. Recommendations to the users of Microsoft Norton
                   and PC Tools utilities.

Redundancies and colour conflicts discussed in the
previous section applies in particular to some profiles
created for Microsoft Norton and PC Tools utilities. Those
profiles are reserved to expert users which perfectly master
those programs and have a good knowledge of data processing
and computers generally speaking. We recommend the others to
directly work from MS-DOS command line.
In any case a list of the different available options for
every utility can be accessed by typing the concerned file
name without its extension followed by the slash and question
mark signs: "/?".
Please see your application manuals for more information.

D-3. Recommendations to the users of Kortex cards.

If your profile KORTEX does not work there is probably acolour problem. After running Kortex, that is after typing KCH
or KCHFAX depending upon the card you use, press the ALT-0
keys so as to restore the default colours of the program. The
profil should then work.
Note: the keys you press must imperatively be the left
hand ALT and the zero keys of the upper keyboard row but in no
case the right hand ALT and the zero key on the numeric keypad
for it would not work.
