                  FormMate
The new form-writer program from Henter-Joyce.

For the blind or visually impaired employee, completing forms
has always been a difficult task. Now, there's FormMate, an
exceptional new program designed for computer and printer by
Henter-Joyce, Inc. the originators of JAWS. Designed to work
with JAWS, or any similar screen-reader program, FormMate
enables blind persons to complete any preprinted form by
answering simple prompts and entering data. This same
information can then be used to complete any number of other forms
automatically.

FormMate features flexible, pop-up Lotus (TM) style menus,
and is designed for use with the IBM PC, XT, AT, and
Personal System-2 family of computers and compatibles.

Now, when visually impaired employees need to fill out forms,
FormMate can give them a hand.

Unique in its design, FormMate enables blind employees to
complete any number of business forms. Order blanks, claim
forms, applications, credit histories .... whatever the type of
business, if filling out forms is part of the routine, FormMate
can help.

Features include:
LOTUSTM STYLE POP-UP MENUS
FormMate is the only form writer system to offer both an
audible and visible LotusTM style menu. Flexible enough for
the novice, yet fast enough for the expert, it offers: a built in
step-by-step audible and visible guide which navigates an
inexperienced user through the menu system to reach a
particular function; - a quick override for experts by using the
first letter of the desired selection from the menu; . a familiar
format for the sighted user to follow in training and support
situations.

INTERACTIVE WITH THE USER
FormMate is prompt driven, with only one prompt or question
per line. A short prompt appears on the screen, at the cursor,
with a longer version in the status window giving a fuller
explanation of the data being requested. The user simply
answers the prompts. Questions can be asked in any order,
independent of the position of the blanks on the form. Always
available on the screen are the names and descriptions of the
prompt and form files, the prompt and prompt help line, the
current software activity and the current cell or field name.

DATA TYPE ERROR CHECKING
By using "picture clauses" FormMate has a built-in system of
checking the accuracy of data entered into certain fields,
automatically. Fields for dates, phone numbers, zip codes, and
upper case letters, for example, are predetermined to accept
only data in the correct format. This way, mistakes can be
corrected immediately.

AUTOMATIC CALCULATIONS AND RESPONSES
FormMate includes equation and formula fields to support
multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. Response to
one prompt is used to calculate the answer to another. For
example, FormMate can total the dollar value of a list of items,
calculate the sales tax due, add a delivery charge, and then
print the total amount. Other responses can be made dependent
upon each other also. For example, FormMate will not ask
"spouses name" if the answer to marital status is "single".
FORMMATE includes a built in system for multi-line fields or
narrative responses. It offers automatic word-wrap and full
featured editing.

MULTIPLE USE OF DATA
FormMate uses one response file to fill in any number of
different but related forms. Thus all the information about a
certain person, customer or event is kept in one place. This
information can be retrieved at any time to edit or use as a
template for completely different response files. The number
of form, prompt, or information files is unlimited.

QUICK RETRIEVAL OF DATA
FormMate includes a method of scanning the response file
names and their descriptions to accurately and quickly retrieve
the required data.

FLEXIBLE FORM POSITIONING AND EMPHASIS
FormMate's microspacing capability independently adjusts the
position of data printed in each blank on a form. Plus,
independent print enhancements such as underlining, or bold
face, are available for each field.

PRINT OPTIONS
FormMate's print menu allows information to be printed either
to the screen for checking and editing, or directly to the printer.

In addition, the GOTO submenu lets the user enter a field
name to go to directly, without having to scroll through the
entire form. This quick method of reaching a particular field is
especially helpful when working with large forms.

FORM CREATION
Forms can be created using a standard word processor. Simply
type in the form as it appears in print, with special
characteristics to designate the blanks, and FormMate will
automatically determine where the data goes on the form.
There is no need to measure the position or length of the blank
line, FormMate does it all. An optical scanner can also be
used to transfer forms into the computer.

IN ADDITION, FormMate:
 comes with 3.5 diskette
 audio training cassette
printed manual, (braille manual is optional)
runs on IBM DOS 2.1 and later versions
is backed by a one-year limited warranty
