ENABLING TECHNOLOGIES COMPANY
THE JULIET BRAILLER

Braille readers and suppliers have every right to expect that
over time the price of high-quality braille embossers will
steadily decrease. So it was only a question of who would be the
first company to present a machine which will make high-quality
braille on both sides of a page, do it at the rate of 55
characters per second, and sell it for less than $5,000.

The company is Enabling Technologies, and the winning product is
the JULIET braille embosser. A durable desk-top printer, the
JULIET accepts paper of any weight from 20 to 100 pounds, and
adjusts its impact accordingly through a simple control at the
rear of the cabinet. Its tractors open wide to hold a 15-inch
sheet, and fill it with up to 56 braille characters per line.
Most braille printers are limited to a 42-character line, and
many can't handle the 15-inch wide paper. But even if you stay
with standard 11 by 11.5-inch paper, the JULIET will save you
half of your paper cost by using both sides of the page. And you
will also save on binding and mailing because you won't have as
many sheets to bind and mail.

But don't be mislead by the economy factor. The JULIET produces
the finest quality interpoint braille you can make at any price.
We cannot do justice to its clear, deeply etched dots by
describing their dimensions, which incidentally exceed Federal
guidelines by a wide margin. Just bear in mind that all braille
is not created equal, and let us provide you with a sample of
JULIET braille if you have not already inspected one.

Here is a partial list of the JULIET'S capabilities:

High-resolution graphics; lets you combine text and graphics on a
single page without stopping.

Multi-copy buffer; stores a 30-page file and makes copies
independently freeing your computer for other work.

Multi-strike feature; places well defined braille on heavy
plastics and some light metals. The quality is suitable for
making braille signs or adding braille to printed ones.

Single-sided operation; allows braille to be placed on only one
side of the page to make visual proof-reading easier on the eyes.

Raised print characters: In conjunction with an optional software
package, embosses print characters which can be read either
tactually or visually

Multi-configuration; holds up to 16 full groups of settings--one
for each separate application.

Dual Control; enter commands for the JULIET either on its front
panel keypad, or on the keyboard of your computer. Commands sent
from the computer can be stored on disk and called up at any time
with two or three keystrokes.

Fully compatible with braille translation for the IBM, Apple and
Macintosh; produces high quality grade two braille which meets
federal guide lines.

Unrestricted capacity: the Juliet is capable of embossing an
entire box of braille paper without stopping for a paper change.
(at least 1,500 sheets)

Rear pannel impact control: Allows the use of different paper
stock, ranging from 20 pound computer paper to 100 pound tag.

Vertical printing: Text can be embossed in either the vertical or
horizontal axis.
