To dial your phone
1    Make sure your modem and modem cables are connected
correctly.
2    Type the number in dialable format or international format,
or click a number you've already dialed.
3    Click Dial.
Tips
     If you dial the same number frequently, you can store it on
a speed-dial button.
     To see a log of calls, click the Tools menu, and then click
Show Log. To dial a number in the log, double-click the log
entry.

To store frequently dialed numbers
1    Click an empty speed-dial button.
2    Fill in the requested information.
3    Click Save or Save And Dial.
Tip
     To edit all of your speed-dial buttons at once, click the
Edit menu, and then click Speed Dial.

To dial a stored phone number
     Click the speed-dial button for the number.

To log telephone calls
     On the Tools menu, click Show Log.
Tips
     To select the types of calls to log, click the Log menu, and
then click Options.
     To dial a number from the log, double-click the name or
number.
     To purge log entries, select the entries, click the Edit
menu, and then click Delete.


To use a telephone with multiple lines
1    On the Tools menu, click Connect Using.
2    Click the address you want to use.


To use more than one modem
1    On the Tools menu, click Connect Using.
2    Click the modem or telephony device that is on the line you
want to use.


To select a calling card to use
1    On the Tools menu, click Dialing Properties.
2    Click Dial Using Calling Card.
3    Click a calling card you have an account with.
Tips
     To set up a new calling card, click New. 
     For Help on an item, click   at the top of the dialog box,
and then click the item.


 To set up the location you're calling from
1    On the Tools menu, click Dialing Properties.
2    Click the location you are dialing from.
3    Click the settings that match the way you dial from this
location.

Click Help Topics to return to the list of topics.

Click this to define a location you are calling from, and to set
up a calling-card number to use with calls you make from your
computer.


Provides a space for you to type the number you want to dial. If
you have made calls before, you can choose from the numbers you
already dialed by clicking the down arrow.


Provides a space for you to type a phone number for each
speed-dial button. 
After the number is typed, you can click a speed-dial button to
dial that number.


Provides a space for you to type a name and phone number for each
speed-dial button.


Dials the specified number.


Provides a telephone keypad for you to use when you type
information in the Number To Dial box.


Provides a space for you to type a name that will appear in the
Call Log. When you use your Call Log, you will see this name
associated with its phone number.


Hangs up the phone call.


Provides a space for you to type exactly the numbers you want
dialed. Phone Dialer will ignore location and calling-card
information.
Click Redial to dial the number as edited.
Note that if you click Dialing Properties, you lose these
changes. With Dialing Properties, the original number is dialed
using the location and calling-card information you specify in
Dialing Properties.

Tries the call again, using the phone number as displayed in the
Number To Redial box.


Provides a space for you to type a label for a speed-dial button.


Provides a space for you to type the number to dial when you
click a speed-dial button.


Saves the information for this speed-dial button, and then dials
the call.


Saves any information that has changed for any of the speed-dial
buttons.


Displays a list of calls. To select whether to log incoming calls
or outgoing calls, click the Log menu, and then click Options. To
dial an entry in the log, double-click it.


When checked, logs all incoming calls. 
Many telephony drivers cannot monitor incoming calls. If this is
the case for your driver, no incoming calls will appear in the
log even if you have checked this box. 


When checked, logs all outgoing calls.


If you have more than one phone line or modem, or one phone line
and one voice line, this option specifies which line to use when
dialing out. 
If the line you want isn't on this list, you need to install a
new telephony device driver.

If your phone has multiple lines, specifies which phone number to
use when dialing out. If your phone only has one line, then only
that line is listed.


Specifies whether Phone Dialer should handle voice calls
initiated by other programs.


Click this to view properties for the modem on the selected line.


 Specifies whether Phone Dialer should handle non-voice calls
initiated by other programs.


Displays who you are connected to, your current location, the
calling card you're using, and the exact digits that were dialed.


Click this to change the location you're calling from, the
calling card you're using, or the way the number will be dialed.
