Marco Navigation System

TeleSensory's Marco navigation system opens the door to a world of easier access and greater mobility! With just one press of the button, this simple-to-use, convenient-to-carry guidance tool simplifies finding your way through shopping malls, libraries, airports and more! Marco is named after the famed Marco Polo--an adventurer who knew no boundaries!

On the Move with Marco
The Marco navigation system allows greater mobility and access to public places like shopping malls, airports and subways, libraries, office buildings, even amusement parks. For the Marco system to work, a facility must be equipped with Marco transmitters and end users must carry Marco receivers.

The transmitter is fixed in position and continually emits an infrared signal relevant to its location. Then, a passive Marco receiver can "pick up" the message when the user comes within range of the transmitter's signal. Consumers can use their hand-held receivers to locate exits, restrooms, departments, airport gates -- anything that the facility has programmed.

All that's required to listen to a pre-recorded message from the nearest transmitter is one press of the button on the hand-held receiver. Only Marco users will hear these messages. For example, transmitters in a shopping mall could reference the name of each store near individual entrances. Likewise, restaurants, escalators, restrooms, the information desk and drinking fountains could be indicated. Once inside a specific store, a transmitter might announce, "You are entering Men's Shoes," or "Turn left here to enter the Children's Department."

Easy & Convenient
Marco receivers are convenient to carry and simple to use. With only a "listening" button and a volume control, Marco allows easy. Weighing only 7 ounces and measuring less than 5 x 3 inches, Marco is convenient to carry, easily fitting into a purse or pocket or worn around the neck for quick accessibility.

For the Marco system to work, a facility must be equipped with Marco transmitters and users must carry Marco receivers. Facilities can install as many Marco transmitters as desired to make buildings more accessible to blind and visually impaired people.

Directional Signaling
The transmitter can be configured to send a signal from one or more of its five panels to control the direction and strength of the signal. For example, if a transmitter is located near a corner of a building, indicating an exit to the left, only the panel on the transmitter pointing left needs to send a signal. Configuring the transmitters to send out directional signals allows for precise navigation.

Concentrated Range
To avoid obstruction by solid objects, transmitters are positioned at least 10 feet from the ground, either hanging from the ceiling or attached to a wall. A Marco receiver can detect a transmission from approximately 50 feet away. If there are multiple transmitters in the area, the receiver will only "hear" the message carried by the strongest signal when multiple transmitters are in the area.

Benefit to Businesses
With millions of people being visually impaired or otherwise unable to read signs, the Marco system can be a huge boon for retailers, service providers and transportation agencies. Marco helps make businesses more accessible to the visually impaired and other disabled individuals.

Facilities can install as many Marco transmitters as desired to make buildings more accessible to people with vision or reading impairment. Easily installed on almost every interior and exterior surface material, Marco transmitters are available in a variety of colors to blend with a facility's decor.
