COMING SOON!--Functional Vision: A Bridge to Learning and Living

This videotape contains two new presentations about the effective use of
vision in persons with low vision, ranging from preschoolers to elders. Part
One--Assessment deals with the functional vision assessment process. It
outlines the components in an assessment, summarizes best practices, and
presents segments of actual assessments.

The second video, Part Two--Intervention addresses the process of
translating assessment results into educational programming and
intervention strategies that improve the use of one's remaining vision. It
illustrates instructional approaches and educational considerations, as
well as adaptations and modifications.

Opening Doors Through An Act to Promote the Education of the Blind

This 20 minute video presents an overview of the 1879 Act to Promote the
Education of the Blind and its provision of specially designed educational
materials to students of all ages who are blind and visually impaired. With
students as the focus, this presentation concentrates on the Federal Quota
Program, the annual census of blind students, and the role of Ex Officio
Trustees in the administration of the Act.

Playing the Crucial Role in Your Child's Development

This video contains many easy-to-follow suggestions for the parents or
teachers of visually impaired babies. This videotape, and related book,
Beginnings, present ways of building critical skills such as reaching,
grasping, midline coordination, walking, etc., in children birth to 2 years.
Playing the Crucial Role is a VHS videotape which requires about 9 1/2
minutes to play. Beginnings is a regular print handbook that contains a
detailed version of the information presented in the videotape.

NEW!--The Psychoeducational Assessment of Visually Impaired Persons

This video and the accompanying brochure are targeted toward teachers and
school psychologists who have not had experience with people who are
visually impaired. Dr. Sharon Bradley-Johnson presents the procedures and
benefits of psychoeducational assessments.

Results from a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment can be very
valuable for programming and enhancing a student's educational progress.

Wings for the Future
