STATE DEPARTMENT TRAVEL ADVISORY - Austria
============================================================
AUSTRIA - NOTICE
 October 24, 1991

The Department of State has learned that Austrian Air flights
0S-703 from Vienna to Damascus, and 0S-704 from Damascus to Vienna,
make an intermediate stop in Beirut. American citizens should not
board these flights because U.S. passports are invalid for travel
to, in, or through Lebanon and may not be used for that purpose
unless a special validation is obtained. This prohibition exists
because the situation in Lebanon is so dangerous that no U.S.
citizen can be considered safe from terrorist acts. Use of a U.S.
passport for travel to, in, or through Lebanon may constitute a
violation of 18 USC 1544, and be punishable by a fine and/or
imprisonment.
