STATE DEPARTMENT TRAVEL ADVISORY - Belize
============================================================
BELIZE - NOTICE
 October 22, 1991

Thousands of tourists and business travelers visit Belize each year
and the vast majority experience no problems during their stay.
However, visitors to Belize should exercise caution to avoid
becoming crime victims. While the government of Belize is making
efforts to improve security in Belize City and inland tourist sites,
robberies and related assaults have increased. Visitors are advised
not to walk alone on city streets, especially at night. Do not wear
jewelry or carry valuables. If traveling to a remote tourist site,
travel in a group.

The Department of State issues a pamphlet which provides general
travel information for the area. "Tips for Travelers to Central and
South America" may be ordered for $1 each from the Superintendent of
Documents, U. S. Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C. 20402.

 No. 91-199

This is a new advisory issued to alert travelers to the potential
of crime in Belize.
