STATE DEPARTMENT TRAVEL ADVISORY - Georgia
============================================================
GEORGIA - WARNING
 March 26, 1992

The Department of State advises U.S. citizens traveling to Georgia
to exercise extreme caution due to ongoing political unrest in the
country. Violent clashes between supporters of former President
Gamsakhurdia and the ruling State Council continue. Demonstrations
and marches still occur in Tbilisi. Armed clashes between
supporters of both sides are still occurring in the western region
of Georgia around the cities of Zagadi, Sukhumi, Poti and along the
Black Sea coast. Violent unrest in the south Ossetian region also
continues. U.S. citizens should defer travel to the western and
south Ossetian regions of Georgia.

U.S. citizens visiting Georgia should be aware that the U.S. does
not have an operating embassy there. U.S. citizens who must travel
to Georgia will normally transit Moscow and are strongly urged to
register with the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow
(Novinskiy Bul'Var 19/23, tel. 7-095-252-2450).

No. 92-67

This advisory replaces the travel advisory dated December 24, 1991,
for the U.S.S.R., to warn citizens to defer travel to the western
and south Ossetian regions of Georgia.
