Togo - Caution
 January 23, 1991

The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to exercise caution
while in Togo.  Political conditions may lead to public disorder
resulting in increased risks to personal safety.  U.S. citizens in
Togo should avoid political rallies or demonstrations.  In this
context, petty criminal activity has increased.

U.S. citizens traveling to Togo are encouraged to contact the U.S.
Embassy upon arrival to register their presence and receive updated
security information.  The Embassy is located at the intersection of
Rue Pelletier Caventou and Rue Vauban.  The telephone number is
