                       PROJECT HERMES AT MARYLAND

                     An Experiment in Public Access

U.S. SUPREME COURT ONLINE DISSEMINATION OF OPINIONS

On May 11th, 1990 the United States Supreme Court announced
that it was beginning a two-year experimental program called
"Project Hermes." The objective of this project is to rapidly
provide copies of the Court's opinions in electronic form to as
wide an audience as possible.

INFO strives to provide up to date access to the Supreme Court decisions.
The decisions and order lists are retrieved from a remote database. We
then convert the material into an easily accessible format and
creates an index which users can search by case name or keyword/s.

We cannot assure the availability of the opinions as soon as they are
released by the Court, however, we will strive to provide them in
a timely fashion for as long as the experimental Project Hermes continues.
