Hmmm, make sure you have the new ULTRASND.INI. Do other Windows MIDI programs
work? If so, make sure Power Chords is using the UltraSound MIDI Synth driver
for output (in the MIDI config dialog).

Can you give us any more specifics on what the problem is?

         GUS Mixer problem

I have an early GUS and have great difficulties to get the MIXER
         function going. Here's the particulars:

         Installed gusmixer.drv in \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
         MIXER.EXE is present in \ULTRASND
The 3.1 Windows drivers are installed in the right place
I have been able to setup the Mixer applet in a window
If I now double click on the applet, it does something and everything
goes quiet again. In short, it does not start up.
If I open the drivers window of the Windows configuration function,
it immediately tells me that it cannot find the driver, although the
text about the mixer is in the installed drivers window. I suppose
that is due to Windows system.ini setup with the entry:
         mixer=ultramixer.drv

Since I want to record from my CD-Rom and from my Roland E86
connected to line-in, I need some means of mixing.

         Anybody with clever thoughts?

 @1> Thanks,
What sort of waveform are you looking for? If you've got any
programming experience whatsoever (in ASM, C, Pascal, BASIC, anything!) you
can write something to do this. If not, send me email, I'll be willing to
write you something if you tell me what sort of waveforms you'll be looking
for.
(Hmmm! Envision this: You draw freehand a spectrum of the waveform.
You then give it another waveform, and some control points, it basically
morphs from one to another, making sound everywhere in between. :-)

Ocassionaly 8th notes will become triplets when you use the triplet
button, but I usually have to go to the acutal midi event editor and
change the note-on times to be correct. Looking at the manual, it also
shows 32nd and 64th notes in the toolbar, but I don't have them. I think
that the _real_ version has all the features, but the one packaged with
the GUS doesn't. -Can anyone verify this?

Thanks,
Dustin

OK, I do sequences (mostly with PowerChords Pro) and turn them into sheet
music (with Finale) primarily for school bands. I'm fooling with other
styles and arrangements that cover most new age, blues, and big band jazz
styles. I like using the GUS, but the patch banking problem really needs
to be addressed to make it work well.

Hi! I'm Brian, and I'm a GUS musician.

I write mostly HipHop - House - Club. My setup is:

	NEC Powemate486/50
	G.U.S.
	MidiMate MIDI interface
	CZ-101 (I know shoot me - I'm on a budget ok?)
	Clarion 4-Track (forget model - dark-goldish-brown w/LED V/U's)
	TakeTracker 09e - 16 Channels

Thats what I've been using mostly lately - the Tracker for the most all
the music. I use the CZ for getting that ol' fashoned grandma funk bass.
(I've had it since I was 13 :) ) I use the gus to sample whatever's handy
and as a basic one-man band. Also as a rather crude Delay module.

Subject: Ultra 1.50 - how to enter sequence numbers???

Hi there -

I'm just getting started making some modules, and have started off with
UltraTracker 1.50. Actually, I started off with FAR 0.95, but it keeps
crashing, and saves garbage FAR files, so I have given up on it for now.

I had no trouble figuring out how to say which pattern is played in what
order with FAR, but Ultra is giving me fits. Currently, I have the
beginnings of my ULT with patterns 0, 1, 2 and 3. I want to play them in
this order: 0, 0, 1, 2, 3, 3. Could some kind soul please post an example
of how to do this? The docs don't explain it well enough for my addled
brain. Maybe an example will turn on the light for me....

Well, I use my 1meg Gus in conjunction with a Boss DR-660 drum machine to
produce kinda techno/industrial stuff. If anyone else does similar stuff, I'd
be interested in trading samples. Also, I do writing for ARC magazine and am
close friends with Ken Holeczynski of Arts Industria, so if anyone wants to
send demos, feel free.

A couple questions:
        1) does anyone know of a mixer for windows which allows you to adjust
the volume of each midi channel individually?
        2) any recommendations on a cheap controller keyboard for my GUS?

Mainly I use my GUS for composing on Ultra Tracker. Most of my
stuff is in the beat music genre (rave/house/dance, etc, blah blah
blah). Some of you have probably already heard some of my stuff, so you
know what I'm talking about. (BIGTIME, XTCSTOP, XENYA, MFUNREAL)

(hey, still waiting for feedback on some of that stuff, BTW. ;)
