The benefit of adding a drum machine to a GUS music setup is
that you get to free up gus memory and channels for other
instruments.

Subject: Pro Pats

Hi All,

My weekend project was to download and try out Pro Pats V2 which
are available in the usual places. Unfortunately, I was so caught
up by the first patch (Grand Piano) that although I downloaded all
the others, I couldn't break myself away. The GP patch is great!
Two observations lead to questions:

1. There was clear left to right panning as one moved from left
to right on the keyboard.

2. It sounded to me as if the patch was distinctly different on
the high keys and low keys (and for that matter the keys in
between). That is obviously essential for piano in that the
overtones are so different over the keyboard.

How was this done? It sounds like a keymap to me. I wasn't
aware that the GUS supported keymapping.

However it was done, it sounds great - I can't wait to here
the rest of the patches. Unfortunately, it just makes me
want to have > 1 Meg that much more. The GP patch is over
half a meg.

Subject: REVERB makes the difference!

Hey, I have listened to quite a few sound modules recently, and I've noticed
that all the instruments sound so much *better* with reverb added. Is there
any way to add reverb to an instrument with the GUS ?

If not, I think a new program is in order here. I've heard a sound canvas
with and without reverb. It's like night and day.
