UltraSound Windows Drivers - V5.4
=================================

The previous version from GUS Installation Disk 3.53 and GUS042 was
version 5.34. This updated Windows Driver was included in GUS Software
Development Kit 2.21. This archive only contains the new windows driver so
GUSsers who would rather avoid downloading 1.4MB of data just to get 100K of
data can just download this file instead.

Windows Drivers Installation
----------------------------
If you are currently using V3.x of the UltraSound software then
you may simply un-compress the files contained in this archive into
your ULTRASND\WINDOWS directory. Then run the UltraSound setup from
your UltraSound directory by typing SETUP.

The setup will copy the updated Windows drivers into the necessary
 directories.

OR you can take the hard way and install it manually according to
the instructions below.

 Detailed Explanation
 --------------------
Here is a step by step guide to install the drivers manually:
 1) un-compress the files contained in this archive into your
ULTRASND\WINDOWS directory, overwriting the existing files,
 2) go into the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory,
 3) delete the following files:
      grvsultr.386
      ultrasnd.drv
      ultmport.drv
 4) copy the new grvsultr.386 from your ULTRASND\WINDOWS into the
    WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory
 5) start windows and choose the control panel from the MAIN program group,
 6) choose DRIVERS and then click on the Add... button,
 7) choose "unlisted or updated drivers" and enter your ULTRASND\WINDOWS
    directory in the dialog.
 8) choose the ULTRA WAVE AND MIDI SYNTH and press OK
 9) do not restart windows and repeat from step 4, but when you get to
step 7, choose ULTRASND MIDI PORT and this time, restart windows......
    ......and you are done!

Changes
-------
I haven't noticed any problems with the latest driver yet and the
only noticeable difference I can find (besides the file size and date stamp)
*grin* is that when you go into the control panel and edit the settings, the
DMA buffer now has 2 checkboxes with the words 'Buf size fixed'. There was no
documentation with these drivers so I don't know what this does and what
other changes were implemented.

        Till the next update,
                William
