Subject: AMD Interwave. What it is.

The AMD interwave is a new LSI chip that plugs onto an ISA bus
and provides the function of most industry sound cards. It was
made by AMD under liscence from Gravis and is Ultrasound
compatible. It cannot be used on a GUS or GUS MAX but is
intended for new designs or to be incorporated onto a motherboard.

It supports up to 16MB each of DRAM and ROM wavetable memory.

I would look for new soundcards using this chip to be available from
Gravis and others in the near future.

For more info please contact your local AMD rep and ask for data
	sheets on: Am78C201/202.

Subject: EarthSiege Fix for UltraSound

I think there was a fix for EarthSiege called esgusfix.zip in the EPAS
some time ago. Not sure what it exactly does but the text file warns that
the fix is strictly for EarthSiege and also warns not to run the SOUNDSET
setup program again or you'll have to rerun the patch again.

Good Luck,

While this is a old(er) Sierra game, a patch was released that let it use the
GUS. When I applied this patch, it did indeed use the GUS, but the digital
speech started to repeat. Is there any solution to this problem? Have others
gotten this working without funny echos? Note, this is the DOS version...

Subject: GUS and Descent...

Anyone get GUS and Descent shareware to work? I have gotten music
working (no problems there) and it sounds beautiful, but the sounds are a
pitiful bunch of clicks. I have tried many IRQ's and DMA's (just setting
the ULTRASND variable) and letting descent autodetect it in the setup
program, but nothing seemed to give a change.

Any help would be appreciated - either to the digest or via email. Let
me know if you need any specific configuration information.

Thanks,

Subject: GUS Archives on CD-ROM for sale.

If there were enough inqueries and no legal implications with gravis, I could sell cd-roms for about 25 dollars US plus shipping, this will cover the blank disk, time, etc. I will only do it if there is enough interest, so to get an idea on how many peop
le will actually buy it I would like to conduct a little survey. So any people that are interested pleas mail me at pa_wbb@splinter.coe.neu.edu with the header GUS CD-ROM, and any thoughts you might have.

In regard to Metaltech(sp?) I found a patch for it at archive.orst.edu
and wuarchive.wustl.edu for the game eventhough I don't have it (the
game) I pulled the patch in anticipation...try it and let's see if it works.

Just to make sure, when I mentionned THE Lion King wich works with Gus, well
it`s the commercial version. I think there is not any demo wich work with it
 but who knows?

Greetings GUSsers!

Has anyone been successful in getting MegaEm to load using Novell's DOS 7 version of EMM386.EXE? I get
a failed to load message stating that the internal structure of EMM386.EXE is not recognizable. SBOS
works, and the other utilities not needing MegaEm seem to work correctly. Thanks for you input...

Subject: What CD-Rom drives work with GUS 3.7?

I have a GUS (not GUS MAX) revision 3.7. I am planning now on
purchasing a CD-ROM drive. Which CD-ROM drives are compatible with the
GUS - i.e., can be plugged in directly to the card?
Do I have to by some extra hardware to get a drive to work with the
GUS?

  Thanks.
