the menus.
Most of the range-functions work during playback (e.g. Play Loop)

project, you always see the relation between the visible range
	and the whole project
- Doubleclick in marked range = Zoom In
- Doubleclick beside marked range = Zoom Out
- Shift + Drag in a a marked range moves the range over the project (Scrubbing)
- Doubleclick on an object in a VIP opens the physical project,
	corresponding to the object

- Shift + F11: stores the range with a new name
- F 1...10: recalls stored ranges

2. Load a project (Demo)
******************************

For a first test do the following steps:
- start Samplitude after installation from program manager
- choose menu "Project > Open > Virtual"
- in the file-requestor choose the file "Demo2"
- Samplitude now loads some RAM-projects and 1 virtual-project (VIP)
- start playback with the "Space" key
- The VIP is now playing assuming you have a correctly installed soundcard capable
of playing 16 bits stereo at 22 kHz
- To open the physical projects, corresponding to the objects in the VIP,
doubleclick on the objects or on the icons at the bottom of the screen.
- With the "p" key you can open the Sampleparameter window,
where you can choose output-device and samplerate.

3. Record
**************
- choose menu "Project > Record"
- have a look at the selection of the soundcard and the filename for the sample
- choose between "RAM" and "Harddisk", the bit-resolution and the sample rate
- with "Monitor" activate the meters
- with "Record" Samplitude starts recording, "Stop" ends recording
- with "Cursor 1 mark" you can set a cursor while recording to easily find this
	passage later
- leave the record window with "OK"
- there is an icon for the recorded project at the bottom of the screen,
open the window with a doubleclick on this icon

4. Integrate samples into virtual projects
*************************************************
- open a RAM- or HD-project or record some material
- choose menu "Project > New Project > Virtual"
- an empty VIP opens
- mark a range in the RAM- or HD-project (like in a textprocessor...)
- drag this range in the virtual project (Drag & Drop), you can drag
the range above the sample-display, if you don't want to destroy the
	range-borders
- move the object in the VIP with the right mouse-button
- beginning and end of the object you can change with the right
mouse-button and the hotspots on the objects

5. Object oriented functions
**********************************
Important: all object functions work with the right mouse-button,
	E.G. selecting objects, moving them...
At the same time you can mark a range with the left button,
which is used for playback and cutting.
- with Shift + right-Click you can select several objects, e.g. to build a group
- with Ctrl + right-Click you can copy an object, while dragging an
object with the Ctrl-key you drag a copy of the object,
the original stays on its place
- the 2 blue symbols in the upper toolbar switch a raster function,
with the raster the objects snap to their borders or hotspots
	for sample-exact positioning
- Beginning, ending, fade in, fade out and volume of every object can be
changed easily with the small hotspots. All these manipulations
are non-destructive and will be performed in realtime. A typical
486/33 plays 4 tracks with 32-44 kHz and realtime fades.

6. Hard disk Installation
********************************
Choose from Windows program manager the menu "File > Execute" and
type "a:\setup", if the Samplitude disk is in drive A: .
Otherwise type "b:\setup" or start the setup program from the file manager.

In the installer you have the choice to set a path for the program and
another path for the soundfiles.

7. Play Buffer
******************

If your computer produces intermittant sounds during playback
increase the play-buffersize in the dialog "Setup > System > Buffersize".
Possible values are 4096 - 131072 Samples.

Please have a look at the correct project type (Ram, HD or VIP)
and the amount of Ram in your computer!

With a fast computer you can decrease the buffers to get a smoother cursor
and faster reactions on the Play-buttons.

A complete description of all features of Samplitude you find in the
text "SAM-DEMO.WRI". The full Pro version comes with a printed manual.

We wish you good results in work and a lot of fun with Samplitude!
