Hey, what's up Martin?
OK, you want MPU-401 emulation? You've got it. There's a shareware program
to do just that. It should be called mpu401em or the like, works for SB and
GUS.
HTH,
Yossi.

Using a Yamaha driver for a Kawai device might not work, there probably
will be something like a manufacturer ID in the driver.
For Kawai that is 40 (Hexadecimal) so if it does not work straight away
you might use a powerful editor (norton or the like) and look for
SYSEX string. (Starts with F0 if I remember correctly)

Anyway, the drivers should indeed come from Kawai I think,
just thinking of a workaround in case they do not.

Does anybody have E-mail adresses for Yamaha, Kawai, Roland
and such? might come in handy someday..

Yours Truly, Paul.

Subject: New patches uploaded to Epas.

Hi there. I figured i'd finally get off my tail and start uploading some
of my extensive set of custom patches. The first three archives have
been uploaded to Epas as mnpats01.zip, mnpats02.zip, and mnpats03.zip.

I take requests--i know what it's like to have a 1MB GUS but no 16-bit
daughtercard to do any good sampling. If you need a particular sound,
i'll try to scan through my archives and locate something in the ballpark.

File descriptions follow.

+----------------------------+------+----------------------+---------------+
| The M. Nordan Patch Series | # 01 | Synth basses | MNPATCH01.ZIP |
+----------------------------+------+----------------------+---------------+

        Volume #1 contains the following:

        SBASS1.PAT	Percussive, very synth-ish
        SBASS2.PAT	A smooth-sounding synth bass
SBASS3.PAT	Short bass stab. Good for high-tempo dance stuff.
        SBASS4.PAT	Kind of moog-sounding.
SBASS5.PAT	Sounds like a fretless with a slight percussive
                  	attack.
SBASS6.PAT	Like the previous patch, but with a more mellow
                  	attack.
        SBASS7.PAT	A phase-shifted sound, not enormously useful.
SBASS8.PAT	A soft-edged stab, remind me for some reason of
                  	Machines of Loving Grace . . .
        SBASS9.PAT	Kind of odd.

+----------------------------+------+----------------------+---------------+
| The M. Nordan Patch Series | # 01 | Synth basses | MNPATCH01.ZIP |
+----------------------------+------+----------------------+---------------+

        Volume #1 contains the following:

        VFXBASS1.PAT	Muted slap bass.
VFXBASS2.PAT	A slap bass again, but with more high end.
VFXBASS3.PAT	Another slap bass, this one has a percussive click
			in the attack.
VFXBASS4.PAT	A mellow bass sound with a poppish attack.
VFXBASS5.PAT	A _very_ electronic bass drone.
VFXBASS6.PAT	Like the previous patch, but beefier.
VFXBASS7.PAT	My favorite; a very synth-sounding bass stab.
	VFXBASS8.PAT	A muted, dance-sounding bass.
	VFXSTRIN.PAT	Just the raw material for a synth string section;
i could _not_ get a good loop out of it. It's
not even set up for sustain. Hopefully you can
			do better.
VFXSYNJR.PAT	Neat little tonal synth hit for those high-end,
			NiN-style electronic percolations . . .

+----------------------------+------+-----------------------+--------------+
| The M. Nordan Patch Series | # 03 | One measly bass. | MNPATS03.ZIP |
+----------------------------+------+-----------------------+--------------+

        Volume #3 contains the following:

MNBASS01.PAT	I sampled this little guy from a Mac Davis album
and looped it. You can definitely tell it came
from vinyl, i was just kind of proud of this one.

They're in

	pub/pc/ultrasound/submit

of course. Do check them out. There's been a dearth of new patches on
the archives lately.
