Subject: CSound

Hi all,
Just wondering if any of you out there are using Csound to
program/produce some of your samples.. I plan on creating custom patches for
people and making a little money off of it. Possibly a sampling CD.. However,
I have just began dabbling in it and would like to know if it is worth it to
enhance my knowlede of it and ecome fluent in it. Is that the best possible
way to get a clear/no static/no hiss sample? My group samples techno/hardcore
though the GUS and it is very clear, but woudl Csound make the samples even
clearer? It's power is overwhelming!

Subject: Harpsichord patch

I agree that the Harpsichord patch is c**p. Someone once told me
'that's what it's supposed to sound like' but I disagree. I did
find however that it is improved considerably if you cut down on the
number of active voices. A number of voices over 14 cuts down the
sampling rate proportionally from its maximum of 44kHz, which seems
to affect some patches more than others.

I agree that the pitchbend thread must have originated with a
mistake somewhere, but don't try to stamp it out just for that.
I'm pleased to see ANY thread on the Musicians' Digest, normally
so devoid of messages - it makes a pleasant change from the
GUS General (DOOM) Digest!

Subject: MIDI Mapper

Since Microsquash didn't bother to spend much time describing
MIDI Mapper in their documentation, does anyone know of a FAQ
or other source for this "feature?" Or am I barking up the wrong tree
hoping that this will allow me to use different patch sets for my GUS?
