Introduction to HJ Administrator

HJ Administrator is used to set up and manage user accounts for Network JAWS.
This topic discusses the options available in the HJ Administrator window. You
will find information in the following areas:

The HJ Administrator Menues

The HJ Administrator Menus

The HJ Administrator window includes the following menus:

File

The File menu contains a Save and an Exit item. Changes made in HJ
Administrator must be saved to take effect. If you select Exit without saving,
you are prompted to save your changes.

View

The View menu contains Toolbar and Status bar items, allowing you to determine
whether or not the toolbar and/or status bar are displayed.

Help

The Help menu contains Help topics and About items, allowing you to display
this help topic, or view version and copyright information for HJ
Administrator.

The HJ Administrator Application Window

The HJ Administrator application window contains two tabs:

Profiles

Stations

Profiles Tab

The Profiles tab is used to set up and manage user accounts.

User Account List

This list displays user account information in five columns:
	* User: This column lists user account names.
	* Profile Path: This column lists the relative path to each user profiles
settings files. For example, by default, a user profile named Ted H would have
the profile path of \Users\Ted H. If the user account is not set up to use a
profile, this column is blank.
	* Use Profile: This column contains either a Y or a N to indicate ifthe each
user account is using a profile. If the user account is not using a profile,
default settings files are used, and the user account must have administrative
priveleges to make changes to these files.
	* Admin: This column contains a Y or a N to indicate if the user account has
administrative priveleges.

Add User (ALT+A)

This button opens the Add User Dialog, where you create user accounts. For
more information, please see Add User Dialog.

Delete User (ALT+D)

This button deletes the account currently selected in the User Account list.

Modify User (ALT+M)

This button opens the Modify User dialog, where you modify user account
settings. For more information, please see Modify User dialog.

Stations Tab

The Stations tab is used to configure client systems and the hardware that
will be used on each system.

Stations Tree View

This is a listing in tree view of the computers set up for use with Network
JAWS, and the speech and Braille devices configured for each system.

Note: The Guest station lists all devices selected during Setup. It is
recommended that all devices that are not common to all stations are removed
from this station profile.

Device Properties

This text box displays driver and configuration information for speech and
Braille devices selected in the Stations tree view.

Add Device

This button displays the Select Computer dialog. After selecting a computer,
the Select Device dialog is displayed so you can specify which devices each
system will use.

Delete Computer - Delete Device

This button allows you to delete the selected computer or device from the
Stations tree view. The buttons label indicates whether a computer or a device
is selected.

Add User Dialog

This dialog allows you to create user accounts.

User Name

This edit box allows you to set the user account name.

Password

This edit box allows you to set the user account password. Once you type in a
password and TAB away from this edit box, a confirm password dialog will
appear. Retype the password and press ENTER to continue.

Profile Path

This edit box allows you to specify a path to the profile settings folder, if
you do not wish to use the default path. The default path to the profile
settings folder is C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application
Data\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\6.10\Settings\Enu, where User Name is the name of
the user account. If the Enable User Profile checkbox is cleared, this edit
box is not available.

Browse

This button allows you to browse to set a profile settings folder, if you do
not wish to use the default. If the Enable user Profile checkbox is cleared,
this edit box is not available.

Set Default Files

This button opens the Default Files dialog.

OK

This button allows you to accept changes and return to the HJ Administrator
window where those changes are reflected. However, changes will not be saved
until you select Save from the File menu.

Cancel

This button returns you to the HJ Administrator window without accepting
changes.

Default Files Dialog

This dialog contains a series of edit boxes that allow you to specify which
files will be used as the default files for each of the following file
types:Configuration, Frame, Frame Documentation, Braille macro, Script, Script
Documentation, Keymap, Braille Script, Braille Keymap, Graphics, and
Dictionary. For example, instead of using Default.jcf as the default
Configuration Manager settings file, you could set Winword.jcf to act as the
default file, though we recommend you do not do this.

Warning: Changing settings in this dialog could result in JAWS failing to
function properly. We recommend using extreme caution if you consider making
alterations to these settings.

Modify User Dialog

The Modify User dialog allows you to make changes to user account settings.

Password

This edit box allows you to set the user account password. Once you type in a
password and TAB away from this edit box, a confirm password dialog appears.
Retype the password and press ENTER to continue.

Profile Path

This edit box allows you to specify a path to the profile settings folder, if
you do not wish to use the default path. The default path to the profile
settings folder is C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application
Data\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\6.10\Settings\Enu, where User Name is the name of
the user account. If the Enable User Profile checkbox is cleared, this edit
box is not available.

Browse

This button allows you to browse to set a profile settings folder, if you do
not wish to use the default. If the Enable user Profile checkbox is cleared,
this edit box is not available.

Enable User Profile

This checkbox determines if a profile settings folder is used. If this
checkbox is cleared, the user account will use settings in the default
settings folder. The user account must have administrative privileges to save
changes to the default settings folder.

Give User Administrative Priveleges

This checkbox allows you to assign administrative privileges to a user
account.

Set Default Files

This button opens the Default Files dialog.

OK

This button allows you to accept changes and return to the HJ Administrator
window where those changes are reflected. However, changes will not be saved
until you select Save from the File menu.

Cancel

This button returns you to the HJ Administrator window without accepting
changes.

Select Computer Dialog

This dialog allows you to select the computers on the network for which you
wish to configure devices.

Computer List View

This window lists the computers on your network. Select one or more computers
and press ENTER to continue.

Computer Name(s)

This edit box allows you to type in the name(s) of the computers for which you
would like to configure speech and Braille devices.

Next

After selecting a computer from the list, or typing the computer name into the
edit box, press this button to continue to the Select Device dialog.

Cancel

Select this button to return to the HJ Administrator without adding any
computers.

Select Device Dialog

This dialog allows you to specify which output devices are available for each
computer on the network.

View

This group of radio buttons allows you to determine which devices are
displayed in the Output Devices list. The options are Speech Devices and
Braille Devices.

Output Devices

The Output Devices list provides information in two columns:
	* Output Devices: This column lists the name of each output device.
	* Supported Operating Systems: This column specifies in which operating
systems each device works.

Note: All devices are listed here, not just those selected during Setup, but
drivers are installed for only those devices selected during Setup.

Back

This button returns you to the Select Computer dialog.

Next

This button returns you to the HJ Administrator dialog, or displays a Select
Port dialog if port information is required for the selected output device.

Cancel

This button discards changes and returns you to the HJ Administrator dialog.
