1.0 Installation / Updates

When upgrading your Sportster from version 5.1 to this version (5.4), you should disconnect from the ISDN network first AND disable caller access in the Dial-Up Server for the Sportster before starting. This will allow the update to run smoother since there is less of a chance that certain files in the windows system directory will remain locked by Windows.

2.0 Using A Modem

 A. If you have connected a modem to your Sportster and you attempt to dial out with a TurboPPP multi-link call in progress, you will to have your modem configured to wait for dialtone. This is needed to allow Turbo time to bring down the expanded channel before giving dial tone to the modem. To configure your modem to wait for dialtone, please consult your modem documentation. With the 3COM U.S. Robotics Courier and Sportster modems you can modify the dial string command line from ATDT <number> to ATDT W <number>.

2.0 Known Problems and Issues

The following are known problems and/or issues with this version of the Sportster Software.

2.1 General

 A. Calls into the Dial-Up server are limted to one in bound 64Kbps call at this time.

 B. The Sportster may falsely detect your SPID(s) (when auto-detection is enabled) if your switch type is AT&T Custom (Multipoint). If it appears that the Sportster has detected your spid(s), but the Self Call Test fails, try turning auto-detection off an
d manually entering your SPID(s).

 C. When auto-detection of switch/SPID(s) is ENABLED, attempting to connect to the ISDN network for more than 3 consecutive times (without rebooting Windows) using an incorrect telephone number may cause YOUR PC to freeze. You will have to power it off and on.

 D. If auto-detection of switch/SPID(s) is ENABLED, the Sportster will display the Startup dialog regardless of whether or not displaying the dialog is ENABLED in Config. Settings.

3.0 Bug Fixes/Enhancements

 A. Added support for MS-CHAP in Turbo PPP for outgoing calls.
 B. Corrected crash during installation (in Windows 98).
 C. Improved online help.
 D. Fixed problem with "No buffers of size 1640" appearing in Call Log.
 E. Corrected GPF that sometimes occured on an install if there were numerous TAPI devices installed.
 F. On an un-install some files are not removed if they are still in use. A note is pasted to the Desktop listing these files so they can be removed later by the user.
 G. On some voice calls, if there was too much delay in the call connecting, the Sportster would hang up. This has been changed to allow more time for voice connections.
