1)  Driver Notes

Please DO NOT contact ATI Technical Support or other ATI departments for
assistance with the drivers provided here.  They will not have sufficient 
information to be able to provide technical assistance regarding unreleased

This driver includes:
- support for Direct3D and OpenGL.
- WDM capture driver support for DirectShow based applications when 
  installed with ATI Multimedia Center 7.0.
- driver support for DVD playback.

2)  Introduction

This driver will work only with the RAGE 128 /128 PRO family of graphic
chips.

** THIS SOFTWARE WILL NOT WORK WITH NON RAGE 128 PRODUCTS **

-- This driver will not work with Windows 95/98 or Windows NT4.0
   and is intended for use with Windows 2000 only.
-- This driver contains support for multiple languages.

3)  Installation

THIS DRIVER SET INCLUDES A SETUP PROGRAM WHICH INSTALLS THE 
DISPLAY DRIVER WITHOUT INVOKING THE DISPLAY PROPERTIES SCREEN.
IF THE SETUP PROGRAM FAILS TO DETECT YOUR RAGE 128 PRODUCT PLEASE
REFER TO THE WINDOWS 2000 INF INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BELOW
AND REPORT THE PROBLEM USING THE ON-LINE PROBLEM REPORT FORM 
FOUND AT http://www.ati.com/na/pages/spdrivers/index.html.

SETUP Installation Instructions:
1) Start Windows 2000.

2) You must download the zipped driver and unzip it to a directory on your 
   systems hard disk. For example C:\TEMP is a directory commonly used
   to save installation files into.  The zipped driver file contains a
   directory structure.  You must maintain the directory structure when 
   unzipping the file for the driver to install correctly.

3) Close all programs, click the Start button. Click the Run menu item. 
   Click the Browse button.  Browse to the directory where you 
   unzipped the installation files.

4) Select SETUP.EXE and press OK.

5) Follow the onscreen instructions.

Windows 2000 INF Installation Instructions:
1) Start Windows 2000.

2) You must download the zipped driver and unzip it to a directory on your 
   systems hard disk. For example C:\TEMP is a directory commonly used
   to save installation files into. 

3) Close all programs.

4) From the Windows 2000 Control Panel click on System Properties.

5) Select the Hardware tab then click on Device Manager.

6) Expand the Display adapters.

7) Double click on the driver listed and select Update Driver.

8) Click Next then select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device
   so that I can choose a specific driver." then click on Next.

9) Click on Have Disk, then Next.

10) Browse to the directory where you unzipped the installation files and 
   select Open then click on OK.

11) Select your RAGE 128/128 PRO product, then click on Next. 

12) If you receive a message titled "Update Driver Warning" click on Yes
   to continue installing the driver.

13) Click Next, then click on Yes for the "Digital Signature Not Found" 
   message to continue.

14) The driver should install, then click on Finish and close the Device 
   Manager.

15) Click on Yes to restart your computer.

4)  To Uninstall

Use Add/Remove Programs from your Windows 2000 Control Panel to 
uninstall the ATI NT Display Driver.

5)  Known Issues

- Resolves detection issues experienced with some RAGE 128/128PRO
products.

OPENGL ISSUES:
- This driver release contains a full OpenGL ICD, which complies with the 
OpenGL 1.1 specification. Hardware acceleration is provided for most 
features contained in the specification at 16 bpp and 32 bpp.  If you are
configured for 8 bpp or 24 bpp OpenGL will not be accelerated.

GAME ISSUES:
- Homeworld (OpenGL) :  Fails to set display mode.  We recommend using
Direct3D until this issue is resolved.
- Half-Life (D3D) : The menu is not visable once the game has started.
We recommend using OpenGL until this issue is resolved.

OPENGL ISSUES:
- OpenGL applications may hang when run on an AMD K7 system.  This issue is 
currently being investigated.

GAME ISSUES:
-Homeworld (D3D) : Attempts to set mode, but will restart the system.
-FIFA 2000: Return to Windows 2000 desktop when attempting to launch game.
-Half-Life Opposing Force: Taskswitching to and from desktop will not redraw
game menu.

BASIC FUNCTIONALITY ISSUES: 
- The Direct3D Display Properties tab is not yet enabled.
- Support for resolutions greater than 1600x1200 are not yet available.
- Certain games will not run or install under Windows 2000.  Please check
for game patches from the game publishers' web site.
- The Display Properties Settings "Apply" button must be used in order for
the ATI Tabs to be enabled after initial installation of Windows 2000 drivers.
- After the INF driver install, the Device Manager may list 4 Unknown 
devices.  To install the WDM drivers you must delete the 4 Unknown devices
from Device Manager, run SETUP.EXE from the /WDMINF directory where you 
unzipped the installation files and reboot the system.
- The WDM capture drivers may not install correctly with some All-In-Wonder
128 16Mb products.
