1.0	Introduction

Welcome to the first preview copy of the Multimedia Center
(version 7.0) for ATI's All In Wonder family of advanced
multimedia cards. Version 7.0 of the Multimedia software
represents more than just a minor functional upgrade, or a
porting effort to support new operating systems, it
represents a complete re-write to take advantage of
Microsoft's "DirectShow" streaming architecture. All of
the Multimedia Center's features are now DirectShow
applications. We at ATI are very excited about the
possibilities for the future that this change represents,
as it finally removes the difficulties in supporting new
operating systems based on NT technology like Windows
2000.

This file contains notes and assistance for using the
March Web Beta of the Multimedia Center for Windows 2000.

This release includes:
ATI Display Drivers version 6.33 CD 03
ATI Multimedia Center version 7.0 WB14

The MMC 7.0 Beta includes the following features
	TV
	Still Gallery
	VideoCD 1.0 Player
	Media File Player
	CD Audio Player

The following components are NOT included
	DVD Player

The DVD player is not available at this time. We plan to
make it available by the end of April 2000.

Due to limitations in the Windows 2000 file system,
VideoCD 2.0 discs cannot be played at this time.

2.0	System Requirements
Minimum PC requirements for ATI Multimedia Center 7.0
Beta:
Windows 2000. This Beta does not support any other
operating system. For Windows 98 please continue to use
the software which was supplied with your card.
Sound Card with DirectSound driver
Motherboard with AGP or PCI bus slot (as appropriate for
your All In Wonder card)
A PIII 500 or AMD K7 500 or better for MPEG-2 full-size
capture.
A Rage128 based ATI All In Wonder type Graphics card
including All In Wonder 128 (16 Meg) and All In Wonder 128
(32 Meg).

Notes:
The original All In Wonder is not supported due to
limitations in the Microsoft provided Windows 2000 capture
drivers.
Due to stability reasons with the Windows 2000 provided
display driver, support for the All In Wonder Pro is not
available at this time. We are working to resolve this
issue.
The may be issues with certain motherboard chipsets.

4.0 Known issues and limitations with TV

This is a Beta release and some issues are likely. Some
specific known limitations are listed below.

RECORDING FROM A SOURCE ENCODED WITH MACROVISION COPY
PROTECTION
ATI ALL-IN-WONDER products detect MACROVISION on an input
source and will refuse to capture video from such a
source. The record button will be grayed out.

STILL CAPTURE CORRUPTION
When using any feature which captures still images
(including Visual Channel Selection, TV Magazine, and
Still Capture) you may see some corruption of the captured
image. Corruption can be anything from minor to an
unviewable images.

STILLS GALLERY
Saving images from the stills gallery (including "Set As
Desktop Pattern") will likely crash Windows 2000.

COLOR DEPTH & RESOLUTION SWITCHING
Do not change resolution and/or color depth while TV is
active. The video picture will be improperly scaled,
display no video, or possibly crash Windows.

TV MAGAZINE & HTML FILES
When using the TV Magazine feature, if you save to a .html
file, please note that still captures will be saved in the
same directory where the .html is located. Each still
capture will be saved as a separate .jpg file. This is
correct behavior for HTML documents.

SIZE LIMITS FOR .AVI AND MPEG FILES
Captured .avi files can only be up to 2 gigabytes in size.
Even if you have more disk space free, the available
record time shown by the TV feature will be based on this
2 gigabyte maximum. This is a built in limitation of
Windows and the .avi file format. For MPEG-1 or MPEG-2
files the limit is 4 gigabytes under the FAT32 file
system. If you are using an NTFS formatted drive this
limitation is not present..

MPEG-2 FILES
While this Beta includes the ability to capture both MPEG-
1 and MPEG-2 files, it does not provide an decoder for
MPEG-2. The MPEG-2 decoder is usually installed as part of
the DVD player which has not been included in this
distribution. As a result you must provide your own method
of playing back MPEG-2 files at this time. Windows 2000
includes native support for playing MPEG-1 files, and as a
result the File Player can be used to play back MPEG-1
files captured with the TV Application.

TV HELP FILES
As this is an early Beta of the MMC 7.0 software, the
newest help files are not available for the TV Feature. As
a result there are discrepancies between the application
software and the help file in the following areas:
Main control panel artwork has changed
Video Capture setup dialogs (Wizard) have been re-
designed.
Certain minor features (i.e. Warm/Cool settings) may be
referenced in the help files but are not available under
DirectShow.
