In Microsoft outlook. select the personal folders folder.
Press shift f10.
Arrow up once and enter on properties for personal folders.
Tab and enter on the advanced button.
Tab and enter on compact now.
you will get a dialog, but it finishes quickly and then comes back to the clean up now button.
Enter on okay twice to exit.
You really don't need to do this though because outlook compacts all the folders in the background.
