Dear User,

This file contains the six Lexis set files. Just copy them into
the C:\speech subdirectory. The set files work with version 2.7
of the Lexis software.

                               Running Lexis

Install the Lexis Version 2.7 software onto your c:\ drive. Type
LEXIS <ENTER> as shown in the installation instructions for Ver.
2.7 to run the program.
This will take you to the main menu, (the only option in this
menu is Lexis products).

Press <ENTER> to get to the options menu. You can arrow up and
down through the options with your arrow keys. Option 1 is "Sign
on to Lexis;" Option 2 is the setup menu. Arrow to option 1 and
press <ENTER> to sign onto Lexis.

The machine will prompt you for various choices. Note that, at
the library menu or at the files menu, you can press ALT-L to
read the libraries or files available. You can also press ALT-S
at a libraries or files screen to read the status (the
instructions shown at the top of the screen).

Select a library by typing its abbreviation followed by <ENTER>.
Then, select a library file by typing its abbreviation followed
by ENTER>. This will put you into a file ready to run your
search.

When you enter a search request, Lexsee search or lexstat search,
the machine will automatically read lines 3 through 24 of the
screen as soon as the screen is refreshed.

In search mode the set file RUNLEX2.SET is active.

Pressing ALT-R at any screen will read lines 3-24.

Pressing ALT-P will read the entire screen, all 25 lines.

Pressing ALT-T will read the top two lines of the screen.

Pressing ALT-B will read line 25.

If the proper set file does not load for some reason, just press
ALT-P at any point so that you will know what is going on. ALT-P
reads the entire screen.
Warning. This is a preliminary version of the Lexis .SET files.
If you have already written your own .SET files, you should back
them up prior to copying these .SET files into your C:\Speech
subdirectory. These .SET files are provided free of charge for
you to try, (use them if you find them helpful). I disclaim any
liability for damages, actual or consequential, caused by failure
of these .SET files to work properly.

Give me a call at (818) 893-0462 if you have any questions or
suggestions for changes that would improve operation.

Sincerely yours,

Robert Sweetman
